Other Costs
Often the installed cost of fully integrated control system
is a only small fraction of the cost of the equipment that it will control. Therefore,
proper selection and integration of the controlled equipment systems will have
the largest influence on:
- capital costs
- installation costs
- operating costs (e.g. labor, fuel)
With good planning, these costs can be reduced while
simultaneously improving your greenhouse system reliability and performance. We
can help you to select equipment that provides the best control and the best
integration with computerized control systems. Argus has many years of
experience in all types of climate control. We can help you to make sound
equipment decisions that will make automating your climate and irrigation
equipment easier and more effective in the future.

|
You should also consider the possibility of additional costs, such as plumbing and
electrical modifications, as well as the actual equipment to be controlled
if you are retrofitting or planning a new operation.

Installation
|
|
 |
Electrical wiring (low and line voltage) as well as
system installation is normally provided by others. Many of our customers
are able to install their systems themselves. Others use local electrical
contractors or local Argus dealer/installers. Our systems come fully
preconfigured and internally pre-wired, and we supply complete wiring diagrams and
installation instructions, all customized to your requirements. In
addition, our service and support staff will help you get up and running
fast via telephone (toll-free in Canada and the U.S.). |
|
Personal Computer
|
|

|
A PC, running Argus Operator program, provides access to
controller information and allows permanent storage of archived data. It
is usually less expensive for you to supply the PC than to have Argus
supply one. You may already have one suitable for this application, and it
can still be used for other purposes while connected to an Argus System.
We will supply the complete specifications for the type of PC required and
we can optionally arrange for a third party supplier to deliver a PC to you. |

Relay Panels
|
|
|
If you require relay panels we can custom engineer and build these to
order or you can have them constructed locally. We can supply standard
DIN panels, or Argus Interface Module System (AIMS) - a unique modular
relay/contactor system to interface line voltage (110 volt and over)
equipment with low voltage (24 volt) control signals. Complete panels are
UL® inspected and approved, and Argus hardware modules
have also been tested for CE compliance. Panels are delivered
ready to mount. Optionally, modules can be
ordered on a predrilled Argus back plate for easy installation into a
panel supplied by another manufacturer. In either case Argus provides
detailed CAD drawings showing modules, device loads, and wiring
terminations.
Argus relay panels are easy to
specify, order, and install. Complete panels include:
- load-rated standard relays, contactors, and motor
starters with 24 volt coils
- load-rated overload units, where required, on
contactors and motor starters
- pre-wiring of high voltage and low voltage sides
to appropriate terminal strips
- neutral bus installed and ready for connection
- installed transformer modules
- labeled equipment connections
- NEMA rated enclosures
